Managing your Account

To manage your account (including your preferences) please click on the link “Account” in the upper right corner. This brings up the detail view of your account.

The display name is what other OpenGoo users will see. By default it's the same as your user name, but it's a good idea to change this (i.e. Martin Sauter instead of msauter).

The e-mail address in you user profile is used for all mails OpenGoo is sending to you, like notifications about new tasks. Therefore it's very important to keep this information up-to-date.

The title is the field where you put an academic degree, a job description or something similar.

You have only access to the administration options if you are an administrator. These options include the possibility to change your user name (which you use to log into OpenGoo) an the company you belong to.

Selecting the timezone you currently live in will make sure that all date and time information will be adjusted to your local time.

An avatar is a picture that represents you in OpenGoo. You can upload a picture here at any time. If you alread have an avatar, you can exchange or delete your picture.

You can change your password at any time. Your new password will not be visible but replaced by bullet points. To avoid typos you have to repeat your new password in the second input field.

Permissions define what a user can do within your OpenGoo installation. There are two categories of permissions: System permissions and workspace permissions.

System permissions are global settings. They define whether a user is allowed to:

  • edit company data
  • manage security
  • manage workspaces
  • manage configuration
  • manage contacts

1)

Workspace permissions on the other hand define what a user is allowed to do within a specific workspace. Checking a checkbox means that a user has full access to that workspace.

If you want to control workspace permissions in more detail, click on the name of that workspace to bring up the workspace permission details. There you can define for each object type if a user is able to read & write it, to read it only, or not see it at all.

There are two more checkboxes to control how a user can assign tasks to other users. If you activate the first one, this user can assign tasks to users of the owner company; if you activate the second one, this user can assign tasks to users of other client companies. If you don't check any of the two, this user can assign tasks only to users of his own company.

I need more information about how these system permissions work.
